A Passion That Became a Craft

OttFrey Cellars started with a simple request.

Back in 2014, Jeff was already experimenting with brewing beer when Julie asked if he could make wine instead, just for her to enjoy. That first batch sparked something bigger.

What began as a hobby quickly grew through years of refining the process, improving equipment, and learning the craft. As the wines began winning awards at the amateur level, it became clear there was something worth sharing beyond family and friends.

But even before the business officially began, wine had already become part of our family story.

The name OttFrey comes from our mothers—Julie’s mother’s maiden name, Ott, and Jeff’s mother’s maiden name, Frey. Their love for gathering, sharing, and enjoying our wines helped inspire the winery we have today.

Crafted Around Three Things

Craftsmanship

Every wine is thoughtfully made in small batches with quality, consistency, and purpose behind every decision.

Approachability

Wine should feel welcoming, not intimidating. We create wines for everyone; from first-time wine drinkers to seasoned enthusiasts.

Curiosity

We’re inspired by cultures, regions, and winemaking traditions from around the world, always learning and always refining.

Our Winemaking Philosophy

We make wine for real people.

That means creating wines that are approachable enough for non-wine drinkers to love, while still delivering the craftsmanship and quality that experienced wine enthusiasts appreciate.

Every vintage is made with intention; balanced, enjoyable, and designed to turn “I’m not usually a wine person” into “I’d absolutely have that again.”
